DS Address Validation / Block
A rule-based address validator and postcode blocker whose developer will build or fix rules for you quickly, but the 5.0 rating mostly comes from reviews left within days of install, so long-term performance is unproven.
Should you install it?
This looks like a capable rule-based address validator and postcode blocker. Reviewers describe enforcing house numbers and postcode patterns, restricting areas, and requiring local-language input, mostly in Germany, the Netherlands, the UK and Australia. The developer is consistently described as fast, and fixed problems or built small features within hours or a day. The catch is that the 5.0 rating is almost entirely from stores that reviewed within days of install, and many reviewed right after a support chat. No review covers months of use, order volumes, false positives or any failure that wasn't fixed during onboarding. The free plan makes it low-risk to test, but run it on real orders for a few weeks and check whether legitimate customers get blocked before relying on it.
Thin evidence. 84% of reviews are under a month of use and about 12 were posted within a day, many right after support chats. There are no negative reviews, no order volumes and almost no long-term use.
Right for
- Stores that need to force specific address formats at checkout (house numbers, postcode patterns, no free-text typos) — 6734, 7143, 3216
- Stores that want to block orders to certain postcodes, suburbs or areas — 6870, 9556
- Stores selling into markets where customers type addresses in non-Latin or non-English formats, such as Taiwan/China or South Africa — 2954, 2707
- Shopify Plus or Shopify Markets merchants who want checkout-level validation — 9751, 3216
- Merchants who want a developer who will configure rules with them or add small features on request — 6870, 7143, 3216
Wrong for
- Merchants who want to install and configure with no hand-holding: several reviewers needed the developer's help to set up or debug rules (9556, 6870, 9751)
- Anyone who needs evidence from long-term, high-volume use: only one text review comes from a store that had used it for months (7627), and no order volumes are stated
- Anyone who needs to know the false-positive rate (legitimate customers blocked): no review addresses it, so it cannot be judged from these reviews
What will annoy you
Rules can be hard to set up alone; reviewers needed the developer's help to configure or debug them: 3 reviews, steady, last seen 2026-09.
How the developer behaves when it breaks
The developer replied to all 31 reviews, usually within a day, with warm but largely templated thanks. There are no negative reviews, so there is no direct evidence of how complaints are handled. Reviewers who describe a problem say it was fixed quickly: a local-delivery validation bug (4701), a checkout delivery-page problem (2964), complex postcode rules (6870), and feature requests built within hours or a day (7143, 3216). Some replies are generic or odd: one is just 'Thank you for your review.' (7063), one pastes the reviewer's own text back (2964), and one mentions setup and customization the review never raised (4876).

Trend
There is no change in quality because every review is 5★. Volume is rising: 21 reviews in the last 12 months against 10 in the prior 12. The theme has stayed the same throughout, praising support and setup help. Recent reviews are shorter and more often posted within minutes or hours of install (5682, 4703, 2964), so recent reviews carry less information than the 2025 ones, which describe specific rules and custom features.
