Tracktor Order Tracking
The onboarding chat is excellent and the tracking page does cut "where is my order?" emails, but almost every negative review comes from merchants who had been running it for months or years and found orders quietly missing from tracking — so judge it on month six, not day one.
Should you install it?
Tracktor does the core job reviewers hired it for — a branded tracking page on your own domain plus custom statuses for the gap between order and shipment — and multiple merchants report a real drop in "where is my order?" emails, one claiming 80-90% (0528) and another 40% (0131). The support team is the standout: they routinely install the snippet, edit the theme code and fix carrier mapping inside the chat, which is why day-one reviews are near-uniformly five stars. The problem is what long-tenure merchants report: orders silently failing to appear or update, most concretely 9862 finding 24 of 200+ shipped orders in the system (Sep 2024) and 9840 leaving the platform over it (Nov 2025). Neither got more than a generic "reach out to support" reply, 19 months and 5 months later respectively, and there is no public evidence either was fixed. Billing is per-order on top of the subscription and older reviews say cancelled and unpaid orders were billed too (3452, 3115) — historic, last seen Mar 2021, but check the current pricing page against your cancellation rate before installing. Install it, then audit after your first busy month: count your shipped orders in Shopify against the count in Tracktor.
Thin evidence. Two compounding problems. First, the rating pool is skewed to hour-zero: 49% of reviewers had the app under a month and ~21 five-star reviews were written within 24 hours of install, several mid-chat with the support agent who had just done the setup — that measures onboarding, not the product in service. Second, the recent window is nearly empty of evidence: of 16 reviews in the last 12 months, only about 4 carry substantive text, so I cannot tell whether the order-capture failure is a current risk or a fixed one. The negative signal is small in count (10 reviews) but consistent in shape — 8 of 10 from merchants at 5 months to 4+ years — which is why I weight it despite the volume.
Right for
- Made-to-order and long-lead-time stores that need customer-visible statuses between 'order received' and 'shipped' — a pet ID tag maker with a 1-2 week lead time (2055) and a parts fabricator using 'part is being designed'/'part is being fabricated' (8060) both cite this as the reason they installed
- AliExpress/Oberlo dropshippers who want China-origin carriers and locations masked or relabelled on the customer-facing page (9703, 9611, 6097, 4737)
- Merchants who do not want to touch theme code — support repeatedly did the install, the email-template snippet and the carrier mapping themselves (9644, 5384, 9384, 5383)
- Stores already using OrderlyEmails, which reviewers say links cleanly to the Tracktor page from shipping confirmations (0528, 2358, 5539, 7956)
- Small stores testing the waters: one reviewer describes a free plan of 10 orders/month (1043)
Wrong for
- High-volume stores, or any store with lots of unpaid, cancelled or non-shipping orders — billing is per order on top of the subscription and reviewers say cancelled/unpaid orders were still billed (3452, 3115, 0218)
- Anyone who needs every shipment captured without checking — one merchant at 200+ shipped orders found only 24 in the system (9862)
- Merchants on regional South-East Asian carriers: a Malaysian store on GDex and Poslaju got 2 orders tracked out of many after 2-3 weeks of back and forth (4164)
- Merchants who want statuses driven by Shopify Flow or time elapsed rather than manual updates (5575, 1684)
- Merchants who want to design the tracking page themselves — it loads into the page with no editable wrapper (6143, 2358)
- Merchants who need email notifications on a cheap tier, or notifications on their custom statuses at all (1043, 4659)
What will annoy you
Per-order usage fees on top of subscription, including orders that never ship and repeat customer lookups: 5 reviews, fading, last seen 2021-03.
How the developer behaves when it breaks
Near-silent for most of the app's life (6% reply rate overall). Two substantive replies in early 2021, both to billing complaints and both defensive — the 3452 reply prompted the merchant to edit their review calling it "factually incorrect". Then a single batch backfill on 7 April 2026: 9862 (posted Sep 2024, answered ~19 months late), 9840 and 3725 all got replies the same day, plus 2228. The negative replies are generic — "Please reach out to our support, and our team will be happy to look into what happened" — with no diagnosis and no public evidence anything was fixed. Six negatives were never answered at all: 4164, 1561, 1277, 5348, 1655 and the text-free 1★ 1059. No reviewer reports a failure being resolved after a public reply.

- Measurably fewer "where is my order?" enquiries 14 reviews

Red flags
- Shipments can go missing from tracking without anyone noticing until a merchant counts. 9862 (Sep 2024) shipped 200+ orders and found 24 in the system; 9840 (Nov 2025, 2+ years on the app) left for another platform over "constant order issues with orders not tracking properly". Both were long-tenure merchants, so this is not a setup mistake. 9862 9840 1561
- The developer's public reply to a billing complaint contradicts itself. It lists digital orders as non-billable, then concedes "With the current billing system, it is not possible to identify canceled orders" — which corroborates the merchant. The merchant's edit reads "Their reply below is factually incorrect. They charge for unpaid orders." Last seen Mar 2021, so treat as historic, but read the current pricing page carefully. 3452 3115
- Customer lookups, not customers, were counted against quota: "if 1 customer checks there tracking say 10 times that 10 look ups that count towards your total" (Nov 2018). No recent review confirms or denies this still applies. 5348
- Free-trial data was wiped on upgrade with no advance warning, and the merchant reported no follow-up after paying (Feb 2020). 1277
- Reviewer reports support quality dropped after months of use: "The customer service team is no longer able to help" (Mar 2022, 11 months on the app) — the opposite of the day-one experience most positive reviews describe. 1561
Trend
Volume is thin and thinning in substance: 16 reviews in the last 12 months against 8 the year before, but around 11 of those 16 have no text at all and two more say only \"GREAT\" (2228) and \"i love it\" (9197). That leaves roughly four substantive recent reviews — 3206 and 2559 positive, 3725 positive, 9840 negative — which is not enough to confirm whether the order-capture problem of 9862 (Sep 2024) and 9840 (Nov 2025) has been fixed or is still live. Negative share doubled from 6.5% all-time to 12.5% in the last 12 months, but on 16 reviews that is two reviews and should not be over-read. Themes in recent text are unchanged from 2020-2022: branded page, fewer WISMO emails, responsive support. One counterweight, ratings-only so it carries no detail: several very long-tenure merchants are still on it and still rating 5★ — 3772 at about 7 years, 9045 at about 5 years, 3704 at almost 3 years, 9744 at about 2 years. Long tenure both stays and churns here. The other change is the developer: after years of not replying, they answered a cluster of old reviews on 7 April 2026.
