Local delivery and pickup

RP Local Pickup & Delivery

A capable multi-location pickup and delivery scheduler whose 4.8 rating was earned by a support team at a company that no longer owns it, and whose review trail effectively stops in early 2023.

Should you install it?

This app does something Shopify's native pickup does not: it puts a date-and-time-slot picker on the cart and lets one store run many pickup locations plus own-van local delivery beside normal shipping, and reviewers with florists, food shops and multi-branch retail say it worked for them. The consistent complaint across star ratings is structural — pickup is exposed as a shipping rate, so shoppers who need delivery can and do select the free pickup option, and several merchants ate the shipping cost or manually re-invoiced (0151, 2873, 2469, 6210). Set against that are reports of intermittent outages and dates arriving day/month swapped (1931), no Order Printer support, a locked confirmation email, no accelerated-checkout wallets, and setup that took some merchants weeks with support. The biggest caveat is not any single fault: the reputation here belongs to Secomapp's support team, the app has since passed through Amai and now Rose Perl Technology, and there is exactly one text review in the last twelve months. Before installing, test end to end that a delivery customer cannot select the pickup rate, and treat everything positive here as a description of a team you will probably not be talking to.

Thin evidence. Evidence is stale and thin where it matters: the last detailed negative review is January 2023 and only four reviews exist after that, so nothing can be confirmed fixed or still broken. Only 5 negative reviews out of 160 gives a small failure sample. 56% of reviewers had the app under a month and many rate the setup conversation rather than live order flow. And the app has changed owner at least twice since the reviews that built its rating.

Right for

  • Multi-location retailers needing one pickup widget across many stores (reviewers name 27 stores, a 14-store business, 5 pickup locations)
  • Florists, food and gift businesses that need the customer to pick a delivery or collection date and time slot at checkout
  • Small merchants delivering with their own vehicles inside a radius who also ship nationally and need the two kept apart
  • Merchants willing to email support for custom code (product-level pickup-only rules, email tweaks, theme fixes) rather than expecting it configured out of the box
  • Stores outside North American time zones, or ones tolerant of overnight reply lag to a Vietnam-hours team

Wrong for

  • Stores where shoppers must not be able to self-select a free pickup rate — the pickup option shows in checkout as a shipping rate and reviewers lost shipping revenue to it
  • Stores that depend on Shopify Order Printer or on a customised order-confirmation email
  • Stores relying on accelerated checkout (Google Pay, Android Pay) or selling subscriptions
  • Anyone needing Shopify's native pickup object rather than a shipping-rate workaround
  • Merchants who want a setup they can finish alone in an hour with no support ticket
  • Anyone who needs current evidence the app is maintained — there is one text review in the last 12 months

What will annoy you

Setup is long and fiddly; several merchants could not get it working without multiple support rounds, one never did: 9 reviews, steady, last seen 2022-01.

How the developer behaves when it breaks

Public replies are rare: 8 of 160 reviews (3711, 8593, 6210, 6919, 9277, 2469, 6209, 1931). The real fixing happens privately over email during onboarding — that is what the positive reviews describe — while the public replies mostly deflect blame: Shopify's billing cycle (6210), a competitor's leftover file (9277), Order Printer's own shortcomings (1931). Timing is poor on the worst cases: 9277 (May 2018) was answered in June 2019, and 2469 and 6209 were answered in July 2019, reading as a single catch-up sweep. Two of the five 1-star reviews, 7333 and 8840, were never answered. Where support did engage during setup, outcomes were genuinely good (6677, 8283, 1000).

What goes wrong 5 recurring themes

  • Pickup is a shipping rate, not native Shopify pickup, so shoppers who need delivery select the free pickup option and skip the shipping fee 5 reviews steady, last seen 2022-05
“Does not actually create a normal pickup like shopify's standard. It creates a shipping option as pick up.” review 0151
  • Bugs, intermittent outages and corrupted dates — options vanishing, orders placed with no date, day/month swapped in confirmations 6 reviews steady, last seen 2023-01
“Also experienced the date and month switching assignments (so customers who chose January 4 at checkout would get email confirmation reading April 1...ditto Order Printer printouts).” review 1931
  • Integration dead ends: Order Printer, customised confirmation emails, accelerated checkout wallets, subscriptions, and conflicts with other apps 3 reviews steady, last seen 2023-01
“things to note, Does not work with google pay, android pay, not the accelerated checkout but at normal checkout, does not work for subscription services.” review 0151
  • Theme changes or upgrades break the cart widget until support reinstalls it 5 reviews steady, last seen 2022-07
“I recently upgraded my theme and it caused a problem with the app displaying in the shopping cart.” review 1600
  • Setup is long and fiddly; several merchants could not get it working without multiple support rounds, one never did 9 reviews steady, last seen 2022-01
“After months of back and fourth craziness I cancelled it, installed a competitor app and that one was installed and working in 1 hour.” review 8840

What it does well 5 themes

  • Hands-on email support that writes custom code for individual stores 118 reviews
“They were able to quickly identify an issue I had on my website, and David went the extra mile with his expertise to recommend changes that made my site look more professional and much easier for customers to navigate.” review 0541
  • Date and time-slot scheduling for both pickup and local delivery, removing manual customer contact 24 reviews
“This app makes it easy for my customers to choose a pickup or delivery date and saves me time because I don't have to contact them to make those arrangements.” review 5625
  • Handles many pickup locations at once, including inventory-aware location selection 12 reviews
“This app has been exactly what we wanted to with our 27 stores!” review 9012
  • Per-product and per-category rules (pickup-only items, scheduling on one product only) — usually delivered as custom code, not a standard setting 8 reviews
“this is the ONLY app that was able to restrict shipping for product categories” review 3147
  • Local delivery by radius, later also by postal/zip code, alongside normal shipping 9 reviews
“Works well for pickup scheduling and specifying a local delivery radius.” review 8955

Red flags

  • The app has changed hands at least twice. Reviews to 2022 name Secomapp staff (Sterling, Nicolas, Tommy, Peter, Michelle); 2924 (Aug 2023) thanks the 'Amai Team'; 0541 (Nov 2025) names 'David at Rose Perl Technology LLC'. Almost every praise review describes a support team that no longer runs the app. 0541 2924 8977 2233 4664
  • A three-year customer reports the app was broken by a change and support made it worse after being given admin access; the review is unanswered. 7333
  • Billed after uninstalling. Developer says a refund was processed and points to Shopify's billing-cycle timing. 6210
  • Uninstall left theme code behind and took a cart down for most of a day. The developer's reply came 13 months later and attributed it to a competitor's leftover file. 9277
  • Incompatibilities (Order Printer, locked email template) were only confirmed by support after months of paid subscription and repeated tickets. 1931
  • Two of the five 1-star reviews, including the two most recent, got no public reply at all. 7333 8840

Trend

The corpus is effectively dead. 160 reviews were written between Aug 2017 and Jan 2023, then almost nothing: two in 2023 (2924, 1476), one in 2024 (4225), one in Nov 2025 (0541), against a stated 1 review in the last 12 months and 0 the year before. The 2017-2019 wave is Secomapp with a free or cheap product; 2020-2021 is the pandemic curbside-pickup surge and the bulk of the praise; 2021-2022 is where the substantive complaints cluster (billing after uninstall, a three-year customer reporting the app broke, months-long setup failures); Jan 2023 (1931) is the last detailed negative. Because there is no later volume, no failure in this digest can be called fixed — there is simply no evidence either way after early 2023. The two most recent reviews are positive and name a new owner's staff, which is a different product-support operation from the one nearly all these reviews describe.
