Shiprocket: eCommerce Shipping
Decent Shopify order sync and a wide Indian courier network, but you will spend your own time fighting weight-discrepancy deductions, fake delivery attempts and auto-closed tickets — and the money risk lands on you, not Shiprocket.
Should you install it?
Shiprocket is the default Indian courier aggregator and it does the mechanical job: Shopify orders sync into its panel, you pick from ten-plus carriers, book pickups, track and take COD. If you ship small, light, uniform parcels, have margin to spare, and are large enough to get a named key account manager, most reviewers in that position are content — and many say the manager is the reason. The consistent failure is financial, not technical: weight and dimension 'discrepancies' deducted from your wallet weeks after dispatch with disputes rejected despite photos, and RTOs raised on deliveries that were never attempted. Both are corroborated by 4★ and 5★ reviewers, not just angry ones — one promoter notes shipping the same boxes direct with Delhivery produced no discrepancies at all [1617]. Assume you will personally police deductions and chase tickets, budget roughly ₹100–360 of unplanned charges per problem shipment, and do not install this expecting live carrier rates at Shopify checkout — it does not do that.
Fair evidence. The failure side is well evidenced: dated, specific, with AWB numbers and rupee figures, spread across nine years and still present in the newest reviews, and independently confirmed inside positive reviews. What cannot be sized is the genuinely satisfied population — the positive side shows verbatim-duplicate text across different stores, dated clusters, minutes-long tenures and a developer asking in writing for reviews to be updated, so the volume of praise is not usable as a measure of how often things go right.
Right for
- Indian D2C stores shipping small, light, fixed-size products — jewellery, phone cases, cosmetics — where volumetric re-measurement costs little [6791], [1617]
- Stores big enough to be assigned a real named key account manager; nearly every durable positive review credits one by name [9921], [6468], [8308], [3550]
- Sellers who want one panel across many carriers and better pin-code serviceability than a single courier contract gives [3424], [6829], [4831]
- Stores with margin headroom to absorb ~₹100–360 of unplanned per-shipment charges and the staff time to dispute them [6791], [3012]
- Multi-channel sellers wanting Shopify plus marketplaces/WooCommerce in one dispatch view [5549], [6994], [3424]
Wrong for
- Anyone who needs live carrier rates shown at Shopify checkout — this app does not do that: "It only syncs orders to Shiprocket account" [2079]
- Low-ticket stores (₹199–₹599 products) where COD fees and discrepancy charges approach or exceed the item price [0022], [3012], [4052]
- Medium and large/bulky-parcel sellers, per a reviewer's own rule: "For Medium and Big Versatile products would not recommend at all" [6791]
- Businesses that depend on international shipping [6266], [6617]
- Very small or new stores with no assigned account manager and no spare person to chase tickets, pickups and disputes [4512], [1335], [1542]
- Anyone who cannot absorb losing a parcel with no payout, including on paid 'Secured' shipments [4466], [4288], [5009]
What will annoy you
Support reads a script, tickets auto-close without resolution, account managers stop answering calls: 92 reviews, steady, last seen 2026-09.
How the developer behaves when it breaks
The developer answers 84% of negative reviews but only 28% overall, and the replies are templated — for years 'share details at escalation@shiprocket.com', now 'Dear Seller! We sincerely apologize... we will connect with you shortly'. The templates are clearly automated: the same apology lands on 5★ text [6278], [9068] and on a 5★ review whose reply reveals an unresolved pickup incident [7098]. Real remedies do happen: freight refunded with amounts [8848], a lost shipment refunded [7025], freight plus a ₹200 voucher [5601], weight disputes 'resolved in your favor' [7845], overcharge fully refunded after escalation [0136], [0424]. But there is as much counter-evidence: the developer defends the discrepancy charge as 'correct' [6377], refuses a proof-of-delivery request on a 72-hour deadline [8926], and asks a 2★ reviewer in writing to 'update your review to reflect the improvements' [0635]. Multiple reviewers say the callback existed to get the review removed [6722], [5156], or that tickets were marked resolved without action [8848], [5501], [5391]. The oldest complaint themes — weight discrepancies, fake attempts, scripted support — are still the newest ones, which is the clearest signal that replies are not translating into fixes.

Red flags
- Parcels opened in transit and RTOs arriving with a cheap substitute item or empty box; claims rejected despite packing videos and customer proof. Most recent August 2026; a reviewer with almost four years on the app puts the loss at 45,000 rupees. 7800 5009 6518 1437 9974
- Paid 'Shiprocket Secured' / insurance and warehousing insurance did not pay out on lost or stolen shipments; one ticket sat three months then closed as 'delivered' with no proof. 4466 4288 1437
- Money leaving the wallet without a matching invoice, and the developer sometimes defending the deduction rather than investigating — in [6377] the reply states the courier's discrepancy charge 'is correct'. 0945 6108 2965 6377 1126
- Charges and plans changed without clear consent: COD fee reported rising from ₹70–90 to ₹150 to ₹250; Engage pricing 'silently' increased; plan upgraded from Basic to Advanced without approval and an invoice issued (2020). 0022 4512 8852 6617
- One unanswered report of a Shopify app subscription charge while on the free plan (March 2025) — single instance, not a pattern. 0187
- Account disabled or wallet/COD frozen, cutting off access to shipment and customer data. Worst case is old (May 2020); the only recent instance is a one-line plea in June 2026. 3523 7227 8594
- Callbacks whose purpose was getting the review removed or edited rather than fixing the problem — including a developer reply in writing asking a 2★ reviewer to update their rating. 6722 5156 0635
Trend
Review volume is steady (174 in the last 12 months vs 185 the year before) and the negative share is barely changed (20.1% vs 22.7% all-time), so on paper nothing has moved. But the last 12 months' positives are front-loaded into clusters — the 21 January–5 February 2026 batch and a September 2025 batch supply nearly all of them, and much of that text is templated. In the roughly six months since the February 2026 cluster, almost every review carrying text is 1★ ([6791], [1506], [9692], [7760], [6722], [3390], [4512], [7227], [6108], [6207], [1749], [1990], [7800], [1609], [2387]), and the only positives in that window are two escalation-driven edits crediting the same social-media staffer [6278], [6266] plus a no-text install [9587]. Theme mix has not shifted in nine years: weight discrepancies, fake delivery attempts and scripted support were the top complaints in 2019–2020 and are still the top complaints in 2026. What has genuinely faded is Shopify order-sync breakage — dominant in 2022–23 (it drove the whole September 2023 tech-agent review cluster) and now only occasional one-liners. Account-manager thinning is a newer complaint: \"They have assigned 200-300 accounts to a single person\" [4512], June 2026.
