Multi-carrier labels and rates
Sendcloud | Shipping Platform
A dependable European label-printing and carrier-aggregation layer for self-fulfilling EU stores, undermined by slow escalation support, steady price rises, and no live carrier rates in Shopify checkout.
Should you install it?
Sendcloud does the core job well: Shopify orders arrive in its dashboard within seconds to minutes, labels print in a click, tracking and fulfilment go back to Shopify, and you can run Sendcloud's negotiated rates and your own carrier contracts side by side across PostNL, DHL, DPD, UPS, bpost, Correos, Mondial Relay, Colissimo, InPost and others. If you are a self-fulfilling EU shop doing tens of parcels a day, this is a reasonable default and reviewers with four to nine years on it are common. The consistent failure is what happens when something goes wrong: escalations and carrier disputes stall for weeks, there is often no phone line, an AI chatbot gates first contact, and on lost or damaged parcels merchants describe being passed between Sendcloud and the carrier with nobody accountable. Two other things should shape your decision before installing: pricing has risen repeatedly with features and carriers moved to higher tiers (one merchant went from 40 to 133 euros a month in 18 months), and there are no live carrier-calculated rates in Shopify checkout, with pickup-point selection happening after payment on non-Plus stores. Check your specific carrier and lane is actually available on the plan you intend to buy, in writing, and do not rely on the optional XCover insurance.
Fair evidence. The sample is large (505 reviews, 496 with text, 253 in the last 12 months) and the failure themes are corroborated across countries and years. But two long-tenure reviewers describe an incentivised review offer, and there is date clustering plus near-duplicate wording including two reviews with mutually incompatible tenures carrying the same sentence. That directly undercuts the strongest positive signal in the data - the recent volume and rating lift - so the good news cannot be taken at face value. The failure side, drawn from negatives and 4-star caveats, is the more reliable half of this digest.
Right for
- Self-fulfilling EU stores in the Netherlands, France, Spain, Belgium, Germany, Italy and Austria shipping parcels domestically and intra-EU
- Small shops with no direct carrier contracts who want pre-negotiated rates - reviewers say rates beat going direct to Correos, PostNL and DHL
- Merchants who already hold their own contracts (DPD, Austrian Post, DHL Express, PostNL, Colissimo, UPS, CTT) and want one dashboard over them
- Multi-channel sellers also shipping from Bol.com, Amazon NL, eBay, Cdiscount and Mirakl marketplaces, or migrating from Magento, WooCommerce, PrestaShop or Lightspeed
- Low-to-mid volume operators - stated volumes run from about 20 parcels a day down to a few hundred labels a year
Wrong for
- Stores that need live carrier-calculated rates in Shopify checkout - several reviewers could not get the app to appear under Shopify's carrier-rate setting, and one was told dynamic checkout is only supported on WooCommerce and Magento or via a custom API build
- Stores shipping heavily outside the EU - UK lanes, DPD to UK, Royal Mail to USA and customs paperwork all draw complaints
- Operations that cannot absorb a bug sitting unfixed for weeks, or that need phone escalation during peak and weekends
- Merchants who expect Sendcloud to own lost-parcel and damage claims - reviewers describe being left between Sendcloud and the carrier
- Anyone on the cheapest tier expecting full shipping rules, the returns portal, or every listed carrier - reviewers report features and carriers gated to pricier plans
What will annoy you
Support is fine for setup but slow or absent on technical escalations and carrier disputes - tickets sit for weeks, no phone line in several markets: 48 reviews, steady, last seen 2026-09.
How the developer behaves when it breaks
Effectively no App Store replies. In 505 reviews there is exactly one developer reply, on 4857 (April 2020, signed Kris), which blamed volume spikes for slow support, confirmed that every created label is charged, and pushed a DHL rate discrepancy back to the carrier. Every negative review since - including unresolved bugs running months (1495, 0468), billing disputes (2068, 1804) and the unfulfilled offer complaints (4063, 4508) - sits unanswered. Note the separation: many reviewers praise in-product chat, ticket and account-manager support, but that is not the same as the developer engaging on the listing, and the same support gets the worst criticism once an issue needs escalation.

Red flags
- Every label created is billed, shipped or not - the developer confirmed this is deliberate policy in its only review reply (2020), and merchants still report paying for labels they never used 4857 7502
- Labels auto-generated and billed without merchant action - one French merchant reports six Chronopost labels created in the same minute and has filed a DGCCRF complaint 2068
- Billing with no service - monthly debits on a Free plan with no shipments, and a paid annual subscription never refunded after more than ten emails 1990 1804
- An insurance charge of over 18,000 euros claimed for cover the merchant says was never taken 4449
- One merchant says their contract was ended after they complained about support 4542
- Switching cost - a long-term user says their processes are now so adapted to Sendcloud that leaving is hard, and suspects this is tolerated 0468
- Two long-tenure stores say Sendcloud offered users something in exchange for a requested action and never delivered it - relevant to how these reviews were obtained 4063 4508
- Plan small print - a Spanish merchant says the rate quoted verbally did not match the contract and they ended up paying the same or more 2272
Trend
Volume more than doubled in the last 12 months (253 reviews versus 114 the year before) and the negative share halved (5.1 percent versus 11.3 percent lifetime). Part of that lift is campaign-driven, so the improved numbers are not by themselves evidence the product got better. What has genuinely changed: the product complaints of 2019 to 2022 (broken Packstation selection in 4312, orders not syncing back in 5606, wrong shipping dates shown to customers in 0736) have largely stopped, and current 5-star reviews describe sync and printing that simply works. What has not changed, and in some cases got worse, is commercial and support behaviour - price rises and feature down-gating are the fastest-growing complaint (2272 August 2026, 4302 July 2026, 0284 November 2025), and slow escalation on carrier disputes is still the most recent substantive negative (7255, September 2026, an edited review from a merchant who says quality has gone backwards over their year of use). Note the review list is ordered by id and edit date, not cleanly by date, so several 2022-2024 complaints sit near the top of the file and are not current.
