PostCo Returns & Exchanges

A rules-deep returns portal whose real product is the support team — excellent for AU/UK fashion and jewellery brands doing size exchanges, as long as you accept an annual contract, paid add-ons and a proper onboarding call.

Should you install it?

PostCo is a returns and exchange portal that reviewers buy for two things: deep, configurable return rules that map to an unusual policy, and a support team that will get on a call and build what you ask for. It suits apparel and jewellery brands in Australia and the UK doing size exchanges, especially on Australia Post, NZ Post or Royal Mail where labels and QR codes are generated automatically, and merchants who want exchanges and store credit to replace cash refunds. Budget for a guided onboarding and a few weeks of rule-tuning — several reviewers say it is not a same-day self-serve install — and check the pricing sheet carefully, because at least one merchant found QR returns cost extra and one Netherlands merchant found it expensive relative to alternatives with fewer options outside the US. The two things that should make you read the contract are the annual term, where a merchant who stopped using the app after a store merge was refused a partial refund, and a 2022 episode where return-shipping fees were billed to the merchant unnoticed for eight months and refunded only after the merchant chased. On the evidence, private support usually fixes things; you just have to be the one who notices.

Fair evidence. Only about 5 of 100 reviews carry any criticism at all — the 1-star [1723], the 3-star [6729], and two of the four 4-stars [8946], [3952] — so every failure theme here rests on one or two reports and I cannot tell you how common any of them is. The headline negative_share_last_12m of 4.5% counts only the 1-star; the 3-star from Feb 2026 falls inside that window and is not in the number. Against that, 23% of reviewers had the app under a month and at least one wrote after 7 minutes of use, so a slice of the praise measures the sales call, not the product. The strengths are well-corroborated across many long-tenure stores; the weaknesses are not corroborated at all, in either direction.

Right for

  • Apparel, jewellery and footwear brands where most returns are size exchanges — reviewers in this space report the biggest time savings [2676], [4976], [6960]
  • Merchants on Australia Post, NZ Post or Royal Mail who want labels and QR codes generated automatically [3215], [5422], [5179], [8013]
  • Stores that want to convert refunds into exchanges or store credit — one UK merchant says gift-voucher refunds with a 10% incentive pay the subscription back [6742], [5179]
  • Teams willing to spend 2-3 weeks tuning rules and take a guided onboarding session rather than self-serving [3215], [7942], [6742]
  • Merchants needing custom work: API access, a WMS integration, Gorgias helpdesk compatibility, a local Indonesian payment gateway [6595], [5751], [7629], [5415]
  • Stores leaving a more expensive enterprise portal (Loop, Returnly, AfterShip) that want similar function for less [7697], [6447], [7629], [3032]

Wrong for

  • Price-led buyers: one Dutch merchant calls it "quite costly, compared to similar apps", and QR-code returns are a paid extra that at least one merchant only discovered after signing [6729], [7688]
  • Merchants outside the US/AU/UK wanting full feature parity — the one Netherlands critic says options are limited outside the US [6729]
  • Anyone who needs month-to-month flexibility: an annual plan renewed after a store merge and a partial refund was refused [1723]
  • Very high-volume or multi-store operations benchmarking against an enterprise portal — the one 100k+ orders/year reviewer found features missing and exchanges failing [1723]
  • Merchants who want to install, configure and go live unaided in an afternoon [6742], [4965], [3215]

What will annoy you

Setup is fiddly and effectively requires a guided onboarding; branding the portal and emails takes time (minority note — most reviewers call setup easy): 3 reviews, fading, last seen 2024-06.

How the developer behaves when it breaks

Public replies are almost non-existent — one reply in 100 reviews, to the only 1-star [1723], in Oct 2025. That reply engaged with the substance: it accepted the exchange bug as something to investigate, stated no support ticket had been received, and defended the billing decision on the grounds that the refund request came about two months after renewal. Fixes happen privately instead, and mostly do land: the 2022 shipping-fee overbilling was refunded [4059], the unauthorised language change was reversed — "They fixed that" [6729], and the 2023 platform fault was eventually fixed after "a fair bit of communication" [3952]. The caveat is who does the noticing: in [4059] the charges "would have continued to do so had we not noticed and reached out to them." The one thing they did not resolve was money back on an annual term [1723].

Red flags

  • Annual plan auto-renewed after the merchant stopped using it (store merge); partial refund refused as outside the refund window. Check the term and cancellation date before committing. 1723
  • Billing surprise (2022, since refunded): merchant was charged return-shipping fees for 8 months while customers were also paying, and could not turn integrated shipping off. It was only caught because the merchant noticed; no explanation was given for how it went unnoticed. 4059
  • QR-code returns are an extra cost that at least one merchant did not know about in advance. 7688
  • Support altered a live store setting (default language) without notice or consent; fixed after the merchant objected. 6729

Trend

Volume is up — 22 reviews in the last 12 months against 12 the year before — and the mix has shifted toward long-tenure stores (3-5 years) renewing their endorsement, which is a genuine retention signal. Information per review has fallen, though: recent entries include \"Love it\" [0936] and \"Love the experience - works great!\" [0284], which say nothing you can act on. The nature of the complaints has also moved. The 2022-23 problems were operational — silent shipping-fee overbilling [4059], a platform fault needing repeated chasing [3952], fiddly setup [3215] — and none have recurred. The 2025-26 complaints are commercial and geographic: price versus alternatives and paid add-ons [6729], [7688], thin features outside the US [6729], and an annual term with no pro-rata exit [1723]. Feature work is visibly continuing (NZ Post integration Feb 2026 [5422], Royal Mail QR [5179], Malaysia resell [2190]).
