PickupBird by Digiloop

If you sell in Hungary and need MPL/GLS pickup points and lockers in checkout, this is the app people there use — but nearly half the reviews come from stores that had it installed less than a month, so the praise is mostly about the onboarding chat, not about it running for a year.

Should you install it?

This is a Hungary-first pickup point and locker app: it puts MPL and GLS csomagpont and csomagautomata options into checkout and prints that carrier's labels, and reviewers who use several Hungarian carriers say it replaces having a separate app per carrier. If you sell in Hungary, that is the job it does and reviewers who have run it for one to two years say it keeps doing it. Two caveats a sceptic should hold onto. First, the failure evidence is genuinely thin — 47 of 70 reviews have text and exactly one is negative, so there is very little material on what breaks; the one substantive report (June 2025) is checkout delivery options intermittently not rendering, with lost orders, no compensation, and the developer attributing it to overlapping Packeta config and other apps. Second, nearly half the reviewers had the app under a month and most of the praise is for the onboarding support chat rather than for the app running, so budget for setup needing a support conversation and do not read 4.9 as a stability score.

Fair evidence. 70 reviews but only 47 with text and a single negative one, so the failure surface is nearly unmapped. 49% of reviewers had the app under a month, including 5★ reviews at 1 minute (5372) and 2 minutes (6083) that assert reliability, and 36 of 47 text reviews are primarily about the support chat rather than the app in production. All four 4★ reviews are textless, removing the most informative middle band. What I can say with reasonable confidence is the Hungarian MPL/GLS pickup-point use case and the support responsiveness; what I cannot judge is behaviour at volume, behaviour outside Hungary, or pricing, none of which the reviews describe.

Right for

  • Hungarian stores needing MPL and GLS pickup points and parcel lockers selectable at checkout (2422, 7130)
  • Stores using several Hungarian/CEE carriers at once who want one app instead of several (4518, 8043, 0921)
  • Merchants who want the label printed from the same app that captured the pickup point (5853, 8043)
  • Non-technical owners who are willing to set up over support chat (2868, 2422)
  • Central and Eastern European sellers generally, per one reviewer (8043)

Wrong for

  • Stores outside Hungary/CEE — 68 of 70 reviewers are Hungarian and only 2 reviews (one US, one UK) come from elsewhere, both after minutes or a day of use (6083, 5102)
  • Merchants who need the checkout widget heavily customised out of the box (9346)
  • Stores running several overlapping delivery/pickup configurations — one merchant hit checkout options failing and support pointed at conflicting Packeta settings (5643)
  • Anyone needing evidence of behaviour at high order volume: no reviewer states an order count
  • Anyone shipping from marketplaces or channels other than Shopify — no reviewer mentions any

What will annoy you

Initial setup is fiddly and generally needs the support team to finish it: 4 reviews, steady, last seen 2026-08.

How the developer behaves when it breaks

Replies to about two thirds of reviews and to the single negative one. Resolution evidence is real but one-sided: it all concerns setup and configuration questions — 9585 edited their review to say the problems were fixed quickly ("A problémákat nagyon gyorsan megoldották kiváló support"), 8318 edited theirs after support explained the issue, 7130 had a custom request solved, and 4518 says the team modified their theme to make the app work. The one report of checkout breaking in production (5643) ended with a reply pointing at overlapping Packeta settings and other installed apps, and no compensation. Replies are near-identical boilerplate across languages (compare 8094, 6047, 2422, 2632) and are not always fast: 8094 waited 28 days, 9346 over two months.

Red flags

  • Checkout-side breakage the merchant only discovers through lost orders: one store reports the cart option and correct delivery options repeatedly not displaying, with repeated revenue loss and no compensation offered. 5643
  • When the failure was in production rather than in setup, the developer's public reply attributed it to overlapping Packeta configurations and to 'other installed apps or custom setups' rather than committing to a fix — the reviewer's own words were that support 'tends to blame other apps or unrelated issues'. 5643
  • Nearly half of reviewers (49%) had the app under a month, including 5★ reviews written after 1 minute and 2 minutes of use that assert reliability — the review score is not evidence of production stability. 5372 6083 9731 7800 2069

Trend

Review volume is up — 29 in the last 12 months against 13 the year before, with no negatives in that window. But the recent cohort carries less information, not more: shorter tenures and one-line text (\"Great customer service!\" at 7 hours, \"Korrektek, gyorsak\" at 3 months, \"Tökéletes csomagpont integráció\" at 3 days). The useful recent evidence is the handful of long-tenure reviewers: 6389 (over 2 years, app works flawlessly) and 7130 (about 1 year, GLS integration working). The setup-is-fiddly theme is still live as of August 2026 (8318) and June 2026 (2422). The 2025 checkout-display failure (5643) has not recurred in the 29 reviews since, but there is no published fix — only absence of repeat reports.
