Packlink PRO Shipping Platform
A free, easy-to-connect label tool with a real onboarding rep and cheap rates for small sellers, but its review base is heavily solicited, and the problem reviews describe weak claims handling, support that goes quiet after setup, and checkout rates that need a higher Shopify plan.
Should you install it?
Packlink PRO is a sensible way for a new or small Shopify store in Southern Europe to get discounted multi-carrier labels without carrier contracts. Onboarding is unusually personal: a rep calls and sets it up with you. Reviewers praise the order import, label printing and carrier prices. Check three things before relying on it. First, live checkout rates need a Shopify plan that allows them, which reviewers say Basic monthly does not. Second, you will manage shipments and rate settings partly outside Shopify. Third, when a parcel is lost or damaged, or something breaks after setup, several recent reviewers report refused claims and unanswered emails. Test a few shipments and ask how claims work before moving volume or valuable goods onto it.
Fair evidence. There are 932 reviews, but 58% come from stores under a month old, and two reviewers say reps asked for 5-star reviews, so the positives mostly measure onboarding. The negative themes (claims, silent support, plan gating, sync) repeat across years and countries. There is little evidence on high-volume stores or on how problems resolve long-term.
Right for
- New or small Shopify stores in Italy, Spain and France shipping a few dozen to a few hundred parcels a month (9919: ~150 parcels/month on the free plan)
- Sellers with no carrier contracts who want to compare UPS, DHL, Correos, Colissimo, Poste Italiane and others in one place (2970, 1631, 7005)
- Merchants who want a phone or screen-share onboarding call and a named account manager to set up carriers and rules
- Sellers who also ship from eBay, Amazon, Etsy, Vinted or Depop and want one label platform (5405, 3682, 8527)
- Stores on a Shopify plan that allows third-party carrier-calculated rates, who want live prices in the cart (6336, 8773)
Wrong for
- Stores on Shopify Basic monthly that expect live carrier rates at checkout. Reviewers say this is blocked unless you change plan (4325, 5332, 5202)
- Anyone who cannot afford a lost or damaged parcel dispute going badly. Several reviewers say claims and insurance payouts were refused or ignored (3737, 5916, 9295)
- Exporters who need correct customs paperwork. One merchant reports doubled declared values on every export invoice, unresolved for 2+ months (5012)
- Merchants who want to work only inside the Shopify admin. Reviewers say they must leave Shopify and set up shipping prices separately (7685, 1901, 8664)
- Stores needing cash on delivery (1212, 9476), a return label from within the app (4142), or customised, branded tracking emails (9514, 6306)
- High-volume or accounting-heavy shops that need consolidated invoices. Reviewers get one invoice per payment (9485, 8655, 3030)
- Pickup-point (Mondial Relay) checkout flows, which reviewers found incomplete (9153, 9984, 8859)
What will annoy you
Support helps with onboarding, then stops replying when problems come later (email unanswered, chat or phone only opens tickets): 14 reviews, steady, last seen 2026-09.
How the developer behaves when it breaks
Public replies are rare (about 2% of all reviews, 31% of negatives) and nearly all date from 2020 to early 2022. They are templated ('we will contact you', 'email business@packlink.com'). Some give a concrete answer (reinstall the app, upgrade the app, or switch to an annual Shopify plan to get checkout rates). None of the 2024-2026 negative reviews has a public reply, and the 2026 complainants say they got no real fix. The account managers do solve setup problems by phone, and one 2020 reviewer raised their rating after a call. Claims, billing and sync problems are where reviewers say follow-through fails.

Red flags
- Lost or damaged parcel claims and paid insurance: reviewers report refusals or silence, including a 60 EUR parcel open ~2 months, 30 lost parcels with no reply for a month, and a 3,500 EUR parcel lost. Packlink insurance is described as separate from the carrier's. 3737 3390 5916 9295 3030
- Possible systematic export-customs bug: declared value doubled on every export invoice, causing double VAT/duties and blocked parcels, with only vague replies for 2+ months (single reviewer, July 2026). 5012
- Silent sync breakage: orders stop syncing without warning and merchants process manually. The two July 2026 reports share a date, country, tenure and near-identical wording, so they may be one author. An August 2026 reviewer also sees orders stuck in pending until a tracking update arrives. 4840 4847 9513
- Support goes quiet after onboarding; emails unanswered, chat/phone only create tickets, and one reviewer says a human operator requires a paid tier. 8313 0522 9638 4371 9485
- 'Free' app but checkout rates need a qualifying Shopify plan, and one reviewer says the app is disabled until you pay for Packlink PRO. Reviewers read this as misleading. 0878 5332 6999 4325
- After-the-fact charges: weight corrections billed weeks later and carrier weight errors on Mondial Relay, with merchants asked to prove weight with photos and scales. 3899 2654
Trend
Reviews jumped to 409 in the last 12 months from 135 in the 12 months before, and the negative share fell to 2.7% (4.2% overall). This looks like onboarding-driven review prompts, not a quality gain. In 2020-2022 the complaints were mainly app sync gaps and missing fulfilment write-back (one 2020 developer reply says orders paid on Packlink are now auto-fulfilled). In 2023-2025 they moved to claims and insurance refusals, per-payment invoices, weight surcharges, and Shopify-plan limits on checkout rates. In 2026 the negatives are lost-parcel disputes, silent support after setup, an unresolved export customs-value bug, and two near-identical sync-failure reviews. Plan-gating complaints have thinned since mid-2025, and one August 2026 reviewer says relay points now work.
