Delivery Date & Pickup Stellar
A deep, cheap date-and-slot picker with unusually hands-on setup support — but the "date is required" guard is client-side and still lets some customers slip through, and the date lives in non-standard fields that other apps and your reporting can't read.
Should you install it?
This is a local-delivery, pickup and shipping-date scheduler, not a carrier or label app — no carrier is named anywhere in 549 reviews, and the only integrations reviewers mention are Google Calendar, Seal Subscriptions and Bold Subscriptions. It is genuinely deep on slot rules (cut-offs, lead times, blackout dates, per-product calendars, per-location pickup, day-based delivery fees) and the support team will get on a Zoom and configure it, or edit your theme code, which is why florists, bakeries and caterers keep it for years. Two things should decide your install. First, the 'date is required' rule is enforced in front-end script and still loses the race with page load for a minority of sessions — most recently a Portuguese store in October 2025 reporting about 20% of purchases affected (2568) — so if an order without a date is expensive for you, budget for the theme-code workaround support will offer. Second, the delivery date lives in non-standard custom fields with no API (2768, 9753), and a March 2026 review reports orders silently losing their tags plus leftover code after uninstall (8557): plan on this app owning that data and being awkward to leave. Discount the 4.8 heavily — nearly half of reviewers had it under a month, several five-star reviews say outright the app did not work for them, and duplicate review text appears across unrelated stores.
Fair evidence. Volume is large and there is a real long-tenure cohort (several reviewers at 3-7 years, still positive) to corroborate the short-tenure praise, and the failure modes are specific and repeat across years and countries rather than being one-offs. But 47% under-a-month tenure, five-star reviews from merchants who say the app failed or was never installed, and word-for-word duplicate text across unrelated stores mean the positive signal is partly measuring the onboarding chat. The negative sample is also thin in absolute terms — 20 negative reviews total, and several of the recent low ratings carry no text at all — so the true current frequency of the missing-date and missing-tag failures cannot be pinned down from reviews alone.
Right for
- Florists, bakeries, caterers and perishable-food shippers who need customers to name a delivery or pickup day — the single most common store type in the reviews (2071 flower shop, 3697, 8468 Brussels bakery, 4067 fresh fish boxes, 1687 perishables)
- Local-delivery and store-pickup operations, including multi-location: one US store runs 68 pickup locations with no cap (8185)
- Merchants who want to be walked through setup on a live chat, Zoom or screen-share rather than read docs — this is the app's real strength (2712 got it working after four other apps failed, 7453, 5833)
- Stores needing fiddly slot rules: cut-off times, lead time, per-product or per-collection calendars, capacity limits per day (1262 meal-prep, 6579, 1619 48-hour-notice edible flowers)
- Non-US/EU address formats — a Hong Kong store renamed the zip field to District Name to work around no postcodes (8929)
- Budget-sensitive stores: reviewers repeatedly call the pricing reasonable (8720, 1789, 3346)
Wrong for
- Anyone who needs the date picker at checkout — reviewers report it only renders on product/cart pages unless you are on Shopify Plus (6932)
- Stores that need the delivery date to flow into other apps, an ERP/OMS or clean Shopify reporting: it is stored in non-standard custom fields with no API (9753, 2768), and the shipping-rate add-on blanks out the sales-channel field (6723)
- Operations where a missed date is expensive and unattended — the requirement is enforced in front-end script and races page load, so a slice of orders can get through with no date (2568, 1760, 3746)
- Merchants who need order tagging to be reliable for downstream automation (8557, 3064)
- Anyone expecting a genuinely free tier to cover what they need — core-looking features are paid add-ons and the trial does not unlock everything (7126, 4989, 2151)
- Stores with hundreds of SKUs needing individual product rules, though bulk editing and a general calendar have since landed (7126, 7922, 2008)
What will annoy you
Support goes quiet for some merchants — emails unanswered for weeks, quality varies by agent: 12 reviews, steady, last seen 2025-09.
How the developer behaves when it breaks
Replies to almost everything, usually within days, and negative reviews get a substantive reply 85% of the time. The tone on negatives is defensive-with-evidence: they post screenshots proving they answered (4139, 5144), state that no support ticket was ever filed before the review (0065, 3083, 8557 era), explain billing policy rather than refund (4535, 2151), or ask the merchant to reply by email/WhatsApp (4288, 4474). Where the merchant does engage, fixes are often real and fast — bypass problems solved in minutes (4248), a zip-code error fixed on a call inside 10 minutes (7453), requested features built (2967, 6337), and the per-product setup complaint has since been answered by a general calendar and bulk editing (2008). But the highest-stakes complaints do not get closed out: the 2026 missing-tags review (8557) and the 2025 load-race review (2568) both end with the developer asking the merchant to come back, and neither review was updated. Several negative reviewers say the loop was never closed at all (1760, 8557, 5956). Note also that the 99% reply rate is inflated by generic thank-yous backfilled onto years-old reviews in April 2021.

Red flags
- Leaves code in the theme after uninstall that interferes with the store — reported March 2026 by a store that had run it nearly three years 8557
- Silent data loss: orders arriving with no delivery date or no tags, discovered by the merchant rather than flagged by the app, with the developer unable to reproduce 8557 2568 3064 1760
- Billed after uninstall and refused a refund; separately, a merchant says the listed free plan is not free. The developer's public replies decline the refund and defend the charge rather than resolve it 4535 2151
- Support edits your theme files directly. One merchant says a support agent's jQuery broke the add-to-cart button over Black Friday weekend 0140
- Vendor lock-in on your operational data: the delivery date sits in non-standard fields with no API, so moving off it or feeding it to an ERP/OMS or another app means rework 2768 9753 6723
- The 99% reply rate overstates engagement — large blocks of 2017-2020 reviews received identical generic thank-yous backfilled on 2 and 5 April 2021, and one 3-star complaint waited a year for a reply 4308 6406 9700 0285 5839
Trend
Nothing is moving on the numbers: 85 reviews in the last 12 months versus 85 the year before, negative share 3.5% versus 3.6% overall. What changed is the content. The 2020-2022 negatives were about the app breaking — server outages, the calendar disappearing after updates, settings silently overwritten (8557, 6527, 5382, 3709, 5144); those have not recurred in the last 12 months. The current negatives are different in kind and arguably worse: data integrity (missing order tags, orders with no date — 8557 in March 2026, 2568 in October 2025), billing disputes (2151, 4535), the load race on the required-date guard, and reporting distortion from the rate add-on (6723). Support quality has also become less uniform — 5956 and 3083 in Aug/Sep 2025 both describe being left waiting, which was rare in the 2023-2024 stretch. A second shift: roughly a quarter of the last year's reviews are rating-only with no text at all (9947, 6816, 4274, 2235, 0459 and many more, including four of the low ratings), so the recent score carries less information than the older one. The app was rebranded from 'Order Delivery Date' to 'Stellar Delivery Date & Pickup' and a long-tenure reviewer says the rewrite is a genuine improvement (8376).
