Multi-carrier labels and rates

ClickShip | Shipping Platform

Canadian stores consistently save real money on parcel and LTL rates here, but the moment a package is lost, damaged or re-rated, you are in a three-to-six-month claims queue and your card has already been charged the adjustment.

Should you install it?

If you are a Canadian store buying Canada Post or Shopify Shipping labels, this will almost certainly cut your parcel and LTL costs, pull your Shopify, Etsy and Amazon orders into one queue, write tracking back automatically and get a courier to your door - that benefit is corroborated across eight years and by long-tenure reviewers, not just the recent wave. The trade you are making is on exceptions. When a package is lost or damaged, expect 3-6 months on a claim and a real chance of a partial payout or denial; when the carrier re-rates a shipment, expect the adjustment auto-billed to your card with the burden on you to prove the box dimensions weeks later. Both problems appear in reviews from 2018 through August 2026 with the same developer answer each time, so budget for them rather than assuming they are fixed. Check before installing that your Shopify plan includes third-party carrier-calculated shipping, or you will not get live rates at checkout. Verify the current claims and billing-adjustment process with the sales rep in writing before you move high-value shipments onto it.

Solid evidence. High confidence on what the app does and how it fails: the failure themes are specific, repeat across eight years, are corroborated by 4-5 star reviewers as well as detractors, and the developer's own replies confirm the claims timelines and the pass-through billing model. Lower confidence on how common the failures are, because 19% of all reviews were posted in an eleven-day window in October 2025 and read as outreach-driven, so the positive base rate is not independent. Also thin on order volumes (rarely stated) and on the app's fit outside Canada - only two US reviews exist, both negative.

Right for

  • Canadian stores shipping domestically and to the US that currently buy Canada Post or Shopify Shipping labels and want cheaper UPS/FedEx/Purolator/Canpar rates
  • Small Canadian shops that need a courier to physically pick up from home or a rural address instead of driving to a post office
  • Stores that wanted a Canada Post alternative during the 2024-2025 strikes and needed to be shipping the same day
  • Sellers running Shopify plus Etsy, Amazon, eBay or WooCommerce who want one queue for all channels
  • Merchants shipping heavy/bulky goods or pallets who need live LTL rates in the cart
  • Stores on a Shopify plan that already includes third-party carrier-calculated shipping, if they want live rates at checkout

Wrong for

  • Stores that cannot enable Shopify's third-party carrier-calculated shipping entitlement - one reviewer reports being quoted a $517/month Advanced plan to get live checkout rates
  • Merchants shipping high-value goods who need claims settled in weeks, not months
  • Anyone who cannot absorb surprise post-shipment re-rating charges auto-billed to a card on file
  • US-based merchants - both US reviews in eight years are negative, one over a customs/tariff dispute the developer says takes 9-12 months
  • Operations wanting a polished shipping-station UI with sorting, hold queues and bulk export presets - reviewers compare it unfavourably to ShipStation
  • Age-restricted shipping (vape/alcohol) needing 19+ adult signature on Canada Post labels

What will annoy you

Support quality collapses on escalations - transfers, repeated questions, no callback - exactly when money is at stake: 13 reviews, steady, last seen 2026-08.

How the developer behaves when it breaks

Replies are fast, personalised and specific - 71% of negative reviews get one - but they mostly relocate the problem rather than close it. Recurring moves: the charge came from the carrier and we need your documentation to dispute it [0349]; the shipment was underinsured so send a matching cost invoice [1237]; claims take 60-90 days by nature [6620]; US customs backlogs mean billing disputes take 9-12 months [1285]; we tried to reach you multiple times without success [8918, 5211]. Some do close: [5372] was told a claim cheque was mailed, and the reviewer confirmed receipt in August 2026 after months of chasing; [9157] got a 45-minute call with their rep and the Director of Growth and raised their rating; [4445] eventually received a credit for a Dicom non-delivery. Others show no resolution at all - [0349], [6620] and [8112] end with the merchant still out of pocket, and [1285] edited their review to say the public reply showed more effort than the email responses did. Feature feedback is sometimes acted on quickly [1288, 4502], but the structural complaints - claims speed and billing adjustments - are answered the same way in 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026.

Red flags

  • Post-shipment adjustment invoices are auto-charged to the card on file and are easy to miss among routine invoices; disputing them requires you to photograph and re-measure a package you shipped weeks or months ago. Reported by a merchant who spent $116K in 10 months, and still reported in 2026. Even a 5-star reviewer flags it. 5372 2577 1237 0349 2608
  • Claims money is held for months. One merchant received a claim cheque in August 2026 for a claim they had been chasing for months, and reported $100 paid on a product worth over $500. Another was told the payout was waiting on ClickShip's own insurer after the carrier had already paid ClickShip. 5372 1237 0396 8112 6620
  • Support silence at escalation: reviewers describe managers who never call back, cases closed while the same questions are re-asked, and a 36-hour-late notification on a package interception that ended in a fraudulent pickup. 5372 1285 4197 8918 9250
  • Developer replies to negative reviews shift responsibility to the carrier, the merchant's documentation, or customs backlogs. One reviewer edited their review specifically to say the public reply exceeded the effort put into their emails. 1285 8112 0396 0349 6620
  • Age-restricted shipping: integrating a Canada Post account removes the ability to select 19+ adult signature, so labels print 18+ in provinces with a 19+ age of majority. Raised in 2021 and not revisited in any later review. 6284

Trend

Review volume is up sharply: 48 reviews in the last 12 months against 14 the year before, almost entirely because of the October 2025 cluster. Negative share is essentially flat (9.4% all-time, 8.3% last 12 months). What changed in the content is the driver of adoption - the 2024-2025 Canada Post strikes and US tariff/CUSMA disruption pushed a wave of Canadian stores onto the platform, and those reviewers describe fast onboarding and a named rep. What did not change is the failure profile. The 2019-2022 complaints about a buggy app and script-reading tech support have genuinely faded to minor annoyances ([0660] label cancellation, [9157] navigation friction). But claims delays and surprise re-rating charges read almost identically in 2018 ([2730]), 2020 ([8918], [2608]), 2023 ([0349], [6620]), 2024 ([1237]), 2025 ([8112], [0396], [2323]) and 2026 ([5372]). Eight years of the same two problems, with the same developer reply.
