Multi-carrier labels and rates

Easyship ‑ All in One Shipping

Good at putting international rates and prepaid duties in front of your customer at checkout, but expect carrier re-measure invoices to land months after you shipped, and an AI-first support desk you often cannot escalate past.

Should you install it?

Easyship is a genuine cross-border tool: if your main problem is showing international customers real carrier rates plus duties they can prepay at checkout, few Shopify apps in these reviews do it as completely, and the Shopify order sync and rules engine work well for small multi-warehouse setups. The recurring cost is financial unpredictability - carriers re-measure your packages and Easyship bills the difference weeks or months later, and merchants who dispute it with photos and measurements frequently get no substantive answer ([9780], [9130], [3130], [1251]). Since late 2025 the front-line support has become bot-first with no reliable escalation, and annual plans auto-renew without notice with refunds refused on policy grounds, including one case where Easyship conceded its own email was wrong and still declined ([6571]). It is a poor fit above roughly 100 orders/day, for two-box orders, and for Australian or Canadian domestic shipping where reviewers repeatedly find better rates direct. If you install it, reconcile every shipping invoice against the quoted rate, and set a calendar reminder well before any annual renewal.

Fair evidence. The failure evidence is strong: long, specific, consistent negative reviews with names, amounts and dates, still being filed in mid-2026. The positive evidence is weak: a heavy share of recent 5★ reviews are one-line agent thank-yous, 27% of reviewers had the app under a month, one reviewer confirms review requests are sent at ticket closure, and four describe being asked to remove negative reviews. That asymmetry means I can characterise the failure modes confidently but cannot verify how well the product performs day-to-day for the average installed store. Reviews are also thin on ongoing experience at volume - essentially one detailed account ([6176]).

Right for

  • Stores shipping internationally that want duties/taxes shown and prepayable at checkout (DDP) - the single most-praised capability [7490], [9964], [2341], [6510], [9365]
  • Small-to-mid sellers in Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia and the UK shipping outbound to the US/EU without their own negotiated carrier contracts [5231], [2645], [7592], [4022], [2219]
  • Merchants with varied box sizes needing dimensional rate-shopping and a rules engine instead of flat rates [7339], [9186], [5551], [3635]
  • Multi-warehouse setups routing across countries, including sellers using Easyship's partner 3PLs [9277], [9721], [8295], [3576], [2229]
  • Sellers who also ship marketplace or crowdfunding orders (Etsy, Amazon, eBay, Kickstarter, Indiegogo) from the same platform [1270], [2086], [2021]

Wrong for

  • High-volume operations - one reviewer puts the breaking point at roughly 100 orders/day, where sync and automation rules start failing daily [6176], [6243], [3224]
  • Stores that already have good direct carrier rates: adding your own carrier account requires the top plan and per-label fees still apply [0749], [6595], [7739], [6481]
  • Orders that need to split across two or more boxes [3801], [6481], [9942], [6134]
  • Merchants who need a human on the phone or a fast escalation path - support is AI-first and phone is plan-gated [4541], [1705], [4051], [8824]
  • Australian and Canadian domestic shipping, where reviewers repeatedly report rates worse than going direct or than Shopify Shipping [1058], [6341], [8592], [7739]
  • Stores not on Shopify Advanced/Plus, which is required for carrier-calculated rates at checkout [2048], [6134]

What will annoy you

Support is AI-bot-first with no working escalation: tickets opened and 'escalated' by bots, scripted replies, weeks of silence: 20 reviews, rising, last seen 2026-07.

How the developer behaves when it breaks

Replies to about 63% of negatives, but a large share is one template blitz dated 29 July 2024 sent to negatives from 2019-2022 - byte-identical 'Ben (Marketing @Easyship)' text asking the merchant to make contact, years after the fact [0513], [8849], [2735], [6134], [3670], [6476], [1904], [4138], [9638], [5135], [9942], [8592], [2126], [7463], [6229], [9360]. Replies in 2025-26 are short boilerplate pointing to support@easyship.com [5028], [2970], [6243], [2766], [7258]. Real fixes do happen, but the record shows they mostly follow a public one-star review: refunds issued after the review was posted [3613], [9093], the 4x6 label paywall reversed [2518] and thermal printing charges dropped [3509], A6 printing made free and an insurance claim paid [1216], and two reviewers upgraded 1★ to 5★ after intervention [7258], [8650]. Merchants say so explicitly: [3613] 'The only way that the problem received attention to resolve the issue was with the review below.'

Red flags

  • Shipping costs are not final at purchase. Carrier re-measure 'adjustment' invoices arrive weeks to months later, sometimes after you have closed the account, and evidence submitted in disputes often goes unanswered. 9780 9130 3130 1251 3804 3613
  • Annual plans auto-renew with no renewal notice and refunds are refused on policy grounds; one merchant reports a $980+ loss 15 days into an unused renewal. 4682 6191 2970
  • Billed on a higher plan (£82.80/month Premier) for 8 months; Easyship acknowledged its own confirmation email was wrong but still refused a refund, citing T&Cs. 6571
  • Prepaid DDP import tax collected ($441.18 USD plus $15 handling) yet FedEx still billed the recipient; no itemisation provided after repeated requests over two months. 9780
  • Multiple reviewers say Easyship pressed them to remove or amend negative reviews, in one case offering incentives before resolving the underlying issue. 2736 9093 5481 1027
  • Support channels can disappear behind paywalls or a broken ticket form mid-incident, leaving only a bot while a shipment is missing. 2766 1705 8824
  • Account-level ID verification can disable the whole business account with no warning, halting all fulfilment - one merchant lost 3 weeks of international shipping. 4051 4682 1058

Trend

Volume is up (115 reviews in the last 12 months vs 76 the prior 12) and the negative share is slightly worse (21.7% vs 19.1% lifetime), but the bigger change is what the complaints are about. Pre-2024 negatives were about slow email support, broken FedEx/UPS integrations and hidden residential surcharges. Since late 2025 the recurring complaints are specifically about AI-first support with no human escalation ([4051], [4541], [1251], [2766], [6176]); [1251] dates the decline to 'the end of 2025'. Billing complaints have shifted from surcharges to subscription conduct: auto-renewal without notice and refused refunds ([4682], [6191], [6571], [2970]) are almost entirely a 2025-26 phenomenon. Carrier re-measure adjustment invoices have been reported continuously since 2019 and are still being reported in mid-2026. On the other side, the 2023 label-printing paywall was reversed, and the positive reviews now mostly praise individual named chat agents rather than the platform, which is itself a signal about how support has been reorganised.
