DPD Shipping | easyDPD
If you ship domestic German DPD parcels and want two-click bulk labels plus paperwork, this does the job well — but it dead-ends on customs and third-country shipments, and two merchants in the last year say support de-prioritised or blocked them after a bad review.
Should you install it?
For a German store with its own DPD contract shipping domestically, this does the core job and does it fast: select orders, get labels plus picking lists, delivery notes and invoices, with tracking written back to the order. That is consistently confirmed across six years and many multi-year tenures. The hard limits are cross-border — third-country shipments do not work [1716] and Swiss parcels needing customs data have to be created in myDPD [0945] — plus no automatic DPD pickup booking [4595, 6070] and manual handling for multi-parcel orders [3816]. The real reason to hesitate is conduct, not features: two merchants in the last year report support de-prioritising or blocking them after a negative review [8848, 5655], and replies to criticism tend toward ticket-count rebuttals. Check the pricing yourself before installing — the listing says 'Free to install' but reviewers describe monthly fees and a cost jump past 50 labels.
Fair evidence. 85 of 105 reviews have text and most reviewers have long tenure, which is a solid base. But only 25 reviews landed in the last 12 months, ~14 of the recent ones came from a three-day solicitation spike with no text, and credible reports that negative reviews cost merchants support priority mean the star rating cannot be read as a clean signal. Reviews are also thin on exact pricing and on order volumes, so I cannot judge how the app behaves above a few hundred orders a month beyond the one failed 41-order batch.
Right for
- German stores with their own DPD contract shipping mainly domestically
- Operations printing labels in batches from the Shopify admin — reviewers cite ~200 orders/month [4637] and 'hunderten offenen Bestellungen' [5091]
- Stores that want picking lists, delivery notes and invoices from the same click as the label [2098, 4075]
- Small teams wanting to avoid an extra Shopify staff account for a shipping clerk [2098]
- Merchants who value fast email support over self-service depth [7457, 9694, 2967]
Wrong for
- Stores shipping to third countries outside the EU — reviewers report it simply does not work and were told the DPD API blocks it [1716]
- Stores shipping to Switzerland with customs paperwork — one reviewer says those must be created directly in the myDPD portal because no customs data is passed [0945, 5643]
- Anyone expecting automatic DPD pickup booking after printing; two reviewers ask for it as a missing feature [4595, 6070]
- Orders that regularly contain multiple parcels — still manual as of 2025-12 [3816]
- Anyone expecting the official DPD-published app; it is 247APPS' product and at least one merchant installed it on that mistaken assumption [9175, 4135]
- Price-sensitive stores past ~50 labels, where one reviewer calls the per-label cost too high [4595]
What will annoy you
Support goes unanswered, gives one-line brush-offs, or is described as out of its depth: 5 reviews, steady, last seen 2025-09.
How the developer behaves when it breaks
Replies to about 17% of all reviews but 60% of negative ones, usually within a day, in German, signed Stefan. Genuine fixes do happen: a settings option was coded after a complaint [3769], a returns-label problem was resolved [5938], feature requests were shipped [9921, 6694], and one merchant upgraded their review after support re-engaged [9604]. But a recurring pattern on hard cases is deflection — blaming the DPD interface for third-country and address failures [1716, 0154, 5655] and rebutting with ticket counts [8848, 0945]. Some negative reviews get no reply at all [0108, 4377, 1681]. Most seriously, the reply to [8848] does not deny that support de-prioritised the merchant over a review.
What goes wrong 8 recurring themes
- Bulk runs fail outright or the service drops for hours — a 41-order batch returned a 405 server error 2 reviews rising, last seen 2026-05

- No third-country or customs shipping — Switzerland and non-EU parcels must be created in DPD's own portal; the developer attributes this to the DPD API, but the merchant hits the wall either way. Red flags
- Two merchants in the last 12 months report being penalised for leaving a negative review. [8848] (2025-09) says support told them their ticket would not be prioritised because they had written a bad review — the developer's reply never denies this and pivots to a dangerous-goods feature explanation. [5655] (2026-04) says they were blocked from the app after a 2-star review and lost two weeks of shipping; that one is contested, with the developer blaming DPD's internal processes. A further developer reply shows the same posture: [9604] 'Schade, dass wir dafür mit dieser Bewertung entlohnt werden :-('. 8848 5655 9604
- Listing says 'Free to install' but reviewers describe real recurring cost: a 2022 review names 29$/month [4135], and a 2026 review says labels past the 51st are too expensive [4595]. Two more refer to it plainly as a paid app [9604, 0154]. The reviews do not give a full price table — check current pricing before installing. 4595 9604 0154 4135
- Identity confusion: this is 247APPS' app, not DPD's own. The developer states this outright in a reply [4135], and an Irish merchant installed it, concluded within two hours it was 'NOT the official DPD app', and called it a likely scam [9175]. The developer replies that they are the official DPD app for DPD Germany. Treat as an expectation mismatch, not evidence of fraud — but know what you are installing. 9175 4135
- Silent breakage during bulk runs: a 405 server error killed a 41-order batch [0108], and another store reports outages of two hours or more [4377]. Both are recent and neither received a developer reply. 0108 4377
- Developer replies to criticism frequently rebut with internal ticket counts and response times rather than the merchant's problem ([0154] 'sieben Support Anfragen', [8848] 'über 50 E-Mails', [0945], [9604]). Useful context, but it reads as adversarial, and the [5655] reply asks the merchant to take the rating into account. 0154 8848 0945 9604 5655
Trend
Volume is down and sentiment has worsened: 25 reviews in the last 12 months against 37 the year before, with negative share at 20% in the last 12 months versus 9.5% all-time. The warm support stories that define this app's reputation — answers on Sundays [0934], late at night [2773], problems fixed in two hours [8587] — cluster in 2020–2022. The recent record is more mixed: real wins still happen ([7457] 2026-07, [9921] 2026-04, [6694] 2026-06 on a fast feature turnaround), but so do the two review-retaliation reports (2025-09 and 2026-04), a failed 41-order bulk run (2026-05), spurious company-name validation on bulk (2025-12), and a pricing complaint at the 51-label tier (2026-06). Themes have shifted from "does it save time" (answered: yes) to "what happens when it breaks, and what does it cost at volume".
