Click & Drop
Free and adequate when it runs, but the dominant 2025-26 report is that it quietly stops importing Shopify orders while still showing a green "connected" tick, and the usual fix is deleting and rebuilding the integration.
Should you install it?
This is the official Royal Mail order bridge, and for UK sellers who post everything by Royal Mail there is no equivalent alternative named anywhere in these reviews; several reviewers say they stay only because there is nothing else ([9954], [9139]). When it works it is genuinely hands-off, free, and carries customs data and tracking both ways ([7278], [8196], [6059]). The problem is reliability: roughly 55 of 87 texted reviews describe orders silently failing to import, frequently while the connection still shows green, and this is the most common complaint in the most recent month of reviews ([2529], August 2026). Expect to check daily that orders actually arrived, expect to re-key orders by hand when they do not, and expect the fix to be deleting and recreating the integration rather than a support reply. If your shipping cannot tolerate a day of manual entry at short notice, or you take pre-orders, sell from multiple locations, or ship complex international parcels, this will hurt you.
Solid evidence. 87 of 89 reviews carry text, all from one country, with a consistent and heavily recent failure pattern and no sign of solicitation, so the negative picture is well evidenced. Confidence is lower on the positive side: only about eight reviews describe the app working well, the most recent unqualified one is from January 2025, and none state order volume, so who this serves well beyond low-volume Royal-Mail-only sellers cannot be characterised from the reviews. The two different order-age limits reported (7 days and 60 days) are also unreconciled in the review text.
Right for
- Low-volume UK sellers shipping Royal Mail only, who can absorb re-keying orders by hand on days when sync drops ([2924], [8196])
- Stores that ship within a few days of payment, because the import window is short ([4755], [5534])
- Owners willing to read Royal Mail's setup guides before connecting; the few positive reviews all credit the documentation ([9879], [4841], [6014])
- Sellers who want Royal Mail customs fields and insurance levels carried across automatically ([6059], [3125], [9879])
Wrong for
- Pre-order or made-to-order shops: orders age out of the import window before you ship ([3759], [4755], [5534], [4585])
- High-volume stores where manual re-entry is not survivable; one seller was hand-adding tracking to 100+ orders a day ([1451], [4020])
- Multi-location or multi-warehouse setups; the location selector does not reliably filter orders ([0431], [9954], [1128])
- Stores needing responsive support: waits of two weeks to over a month, and silence, are routine ([4793], [4582], [4710], [6392])
- Shops where packaging weight affects postage cost, since box/tare weight is not carried over ([6059], [4582], [2924])
- Sellers needing international edge cases handled: US duty and EU orders both blocked with no fix ([4710], [6314])
What will annoy you
Orders silently stop importing, or import only partially, while the integration still shows as connected: 55 reviews, rising, last seen 2026-08.
How the developer behaves when it breaks
Replies are frequent (58% overall, 60% on negatives) and fast, but formulaic. The standard reply asserts the account is fine and redirects to clickanddropsupport@royalmail.com or the help pages ([6392], [5644], [1774], [9954]). Three complaints on 23 June 2026 received word-for-word identical replies stating orders are coming through successfully ([4215], [4020], [3951]). Some replies do land real fixes, and reviewers confirm it ([5134] edited to say the problem was resolved; [5376], [5701], [5770], [4582]). But reviewers also report the reply contradicts their experience ([6314] calls it false; [4755] and [4793] were told the account looked correct while still broken), and several note the review channel gets a faster response than the support inbox ([4582], [9307]). On the longest-running defect Royal Mail declined to engage Shopify at all ([4585]).

Red flags
- Breakage is silent: the connection indicator shows green and the Click & Drop site reports the feed as fine while no orders arrive, so merchants find out from missing dispatches rather than an alert 3557 4000 0071 2304 4156
- Identical boilerplate replies asserting resolution were posted to three different complaints on the same day (23 June 2026), all stating orders are coming through successfully 4215 4020 3951
- A reviewer states the public reply claiming resolution was untrue and the issue remained unfixed 6314
- Royal Mail acknowledged a sync defect but declined to contact Shopify about it and gave no timeframe, after months and two escalations through Shopify advanced support 4585
- Data retention: a reviewer refers to information being deleted after 13 months, unaddressed in the reply 5534
- No settings or diagnostics are visible inside the Shopify app, so merchants cannot inspect or fix the integration from Shopify 8546 9754
- Card payment failures inside Click & Drop were disclaimed as outside the app's scope, leaving the merchant with no route to a fix 9245
Trend
The last 12 months (27 reviews) are worse than the years before: 96% negative against 84% lifetime. The nature of the complaints also changed. In 2023 the crisis was a discrete event, a Shopify API change that left the app publicly unsupported for weeks and was then fixed ([3421], [9828], [5570]). The duplicate-integration bug dominated 2024 and has not been reported since December 2024 ([1043]). What replaced them in 2025-26 is chronic and unresolved: intermittent import failure with a green connection indicator, reconnection that will not stick, and support that does not answer. The angriest recent reviewers are long-tenure users describing a service that degraded under them ([5644] over 5 years, [6576] about 6 years, [1043] over 7 years, [4585] almost 6 years). Positive reviews have effectively stopped: the last unqualified one is January 2025 ([9879]), and the only 5-star in the last 12 months is an edited complaint that was resolved ([5134]).
