Local delivery and pickup

Zapiet ‑ Pickup + Delivery

The most configurable pickup and local-delivery scheduler reviewers found on Shopify, with support that will set it up for you, but expect a learning curve, paid add-ons for postcode/distance rates, and the odd peak-day breakage.

Should you install it?

Zapiet is a strong fit if you sell for specific dates or run several pickup locations and need slots, prep times, cutoffs, blackout dates and product restrictions that Shopify's native pickup and delivery don't offer. Its standout is support staff who will log in and configure or code the store for you, available most hours. Budget for a real setup effort, and for Zapiet's separate Rates by Zip Code or Distance app (or a paid Google API key) if you price delivery by postcode or distance; customers will also have to enter a postcode on the cart page. A small but steady number of long-time users report scheduling or rate logic breaking in busy weeks, with fixes that sometimes cause new issues, so test before peak dates and ask for a human, not the bot, when it matters. Think twice before paying annually if your store setup may change.

Fair evidence. Very large and recent review base with specific, consistent complaints, but most positive reviews appear solicited right after support chats, which inflates the rating and hides how often the app itself misbehaves.

Right for

  • Florists, bakeries, cake shops, caterers and restaurants that sell for a specific date and need time slots, prep times, cutoffs and blackout dates (e.g. 6552, 3338, 9601, 6920, 2203)
  • Brick-and-mortar retailers with several pickup locations or branches (35+ locations in 0842, 40 pickup points in 8038, 2124)
  • Stores mixing pickup, local delivery and carrier shipping where some products must be pickup- or local-only (0223, 6489, 2559)
  • Non-technical owners who are happy to let support staff log in and configure the store or add custom code (0686, 4708, 6453)
  • Stores willing to pair it with Zapiet Rates by Zip Code/Distance or Intuitive Shipping for zone or distance pricing (9574, 8787, 9158)

Wrong for

  • Stores that want postcode/zone delivery rates calculated only at checkout, with no postcode entry on the cart page and no second app (9606, 8814)
  • Budget-conscious stores expecting all basic features (production report, availability by tag/collection) on the entry plan or no extra Google API/add-on cost (3013, 5762, 5436)
  • Businesses that cannot tolerate a multi-day scheduling/checkout failure in a peak week without a fallback plan (5311, 0459, 6068)
  • Merchants buying an annual plan who may migrate stores and expect a prorated refund (8196)
  • Stores relying on native Shopify abandoned-cart emails, mobile-app wrappers (MageNative, Shop2App) or US SMS notifications (4670, 1942, 6554)
  • Merchants who want to avoid any setup effort for complex distance-tier pricing (9899, 9323)

What will annoy you

Complex setup; advanced configurations take time or several support attempts: 30 reviews, steady, last seen 2026-06.

How the developer behaves when it breaks

Replies to about 91% of negative reviews, usually from a named agent or the Head of Support (Sam), and in 2020 the founder (Andy). Replies offer calls, escalate to developers, and sometimes dispute the merchant's account using support logs (1377, 8356, 8196, 4398). Bugs are often fixed and some reviews were raised afterwards: the 2022 Shopify attribute issue (8905, 7370), a 1★ raised to 5★ (1736), a 1★ raised to 4★ after a refund (5490), a UAE incident later resolved (6068), a POS date bug fixed about a year later (4914), recurring pickup options disappearing (9944). Complaints about how the app is built or priced get explanations, a custom-plan offer or a claim the review is on the wrong listing (8814, 9606, 5762, 3013) rather than changes.

  • Annual subscriptions are generally non-refundable; a refund for 9 unused months was refused 8196

  • Historic (2019-2020): leftover theme code after uninstall broke carts 7922 9550 4460

Trend

Volume rose from 403 reviews in the prior 12 months to 701 in the last 12, and negative share fell to 1.3% (2.9% all-time), but most of that growth is solicited support shoutouts. The 2020 outages and unanswered tickets are gone, and complaints about leftover uninstall code stopped after 2020. Themes new since 2025: friction with the AI assistant 'Zack' before reaching a person, add-on costs for postcode/distance rates, an unavoidable cart postcode validator, and billing/refund disputes. Checkout and scheduling failures still appear in peak periods (February and April 2026).
