AMP Australia Post Shipping

The deepest Australia Post integration on Shopify and a real time-saver once configured, but it changed owners, support went dark from roughly 2024 to mid-2026, and checkout rates can stop showing without warning — a new team only began fixing this around July 2026.

Should you install it?

If you ship on your own Australia Post eParcel, MyPost Business or StarTrack account, this is the most capable AusPost integration the reviews describe — live contract rates at checkout including international, plus labels, manifests and lodgements, on a flat monthly fee with no per-label charge. The catch is the ownership change: after AMP bought it from the original developer, merchants from late 2023 to mid-2026 reported tickets going unanswered for days to weeks while checkout rates were broken, with no after-hours, weekend or phone support. The most damaging failure is that rates stop showing silently — usually traced back to packaging or dimension settings — so customers are told their address can't be shipped to and you find out from complaints, not the app. Since roughly 17 July 2026 a new support team (Anoop, Siobhan) shows up in reviews and several long-tenure merchants say responsiveness is back. Budget real time for packaging and dimension setup, keep a fallback flat rate ready, and don't install it if a multi-day rate outage would be unacceptable.

Fair evidence. 136 of 137 reviews have text and the failure pattern is consistent and well-documented, but the support recovery is only about eight weeks old (Jul–Aug 2026), evidenced by five reviews about individual tickets rather than any sustained period. Countervailing evidence sits right next to it: 7588 (17 Jul 2026) had to route through another AMP app's support channel to get help, and 3994 describes a manager promising a fix in April 2026 then going silent. There is also no recent review volume from high-volume stores to judge how the app holds up at scale.

Right for

  • Australian stores shipping on their own AusPost eParcel, MyPost Business or StarTrack account who want contract rates at checkout (1435, 7588, 9599, 5897)
  • Stores replacing manual copy-paste into the eParcel/MyPost portals — reviewers report cutting order prep to a fraction of the time (7803, 9599, 7351, 3747)
  • Stores selling internationally from Australia who don't want to hand-build shipping zones per country (0794, 4594, 9691)
  • Merchants who need mixed parcel sizes/dimensional weight and price adjustments on top of AusPost rates (0388, 4677, 4710)
  • Merchants who tolerate business-hours-only, email-based support (dev reply on 7976 and 6499 confirms no after-hours team)

Wrong for

  • Stores needing more than AusPost/StarTrack — a reviewer trying to connect Interparcel found it unsupported (6499)
  • Stores that cannot afford a weekend or multi-day rate outage; there is no after-hours or phone support (7976, 0044, 7343, 7597)
  • High-volume operations wanting bulk package entry and bulk rate fetching on lower plans — these are paywalled (5558)
  • Merchants who want to change their own config; one reviewer says every change must go through support (5203)
  • Stores shipping oversized/heavy items without the matching AusPost contract (6499 and its developer reply)

What will annoy you

Support went unresponsive after AMP took the app over — unanswered tickets for days to weeks, dead live chat; improving only since about July 2026: 9 reviews, fading, last seen 2026-07.

How the developer behaves when it breaks

Overall reply rate is low (10%) but 89% of negative reviews get a reply. Seven replies are all dated 7 October 2024 across reviews from 2023–2024 (0044, 7976, 0032, 1234, 9668, 7466, 5757) — a backlog sweep rather than ongoing engagement. Replies are long and specific, and sometimes fix things: a full refund on 6499, a survey gate removed after 0032, an eventual root-cause fix on 7588. But the reply on 7343 disputes the merchant's account and pushes the cause back onto Shopify and the merchant's config — read that one before installing. Replies to 3994 (July 2026) and 5203 (July 2026) arrived weeks to months after the complaint, and 3994 says a promised April fix was followed by silence.

Red flags

  • A store reports all shipping settings disappearing overnight with no warning, and US/China/UK customers being blocked for an extended period; the developer publicly disputed the cause and put it back on Shopify and the merchant's config (March 2025). 7343
  • A merchant reports Shopify itself flagged the app as needing a developer update and possibly not working properly (May 2026), alongside months of unanswered tickets. 3994
  • Ownership change from the original Addition developer to AMP is repeatedly named as the point where service degraded (2023 through mid-2026). 5203 5558 0032 1924
  • Broken rates at checkout are revenue-affecting and have taken days to weeks to get looked at; one merchant had to go through a different AMP app's support channel to reach a human. 7588 7976 7597
  • Basic bulk workflows (bulk package entry, bulk rate fetch) are gated behind higher plans. 5558

Trend

Volume picked up (16 reviews in the last 12 months vs 4 the year before) but the mix changed: negative share is 18.8% in the last 12 months against 6.6% lifetime. Pre-2023 reviews are almost uniformly about fast, personal support from the original Addition developer. From late 2023 onward the recurring theme is the AMP acquisition and support going quiet — 0032 (Oct 2023), 7976 (Feb 2024), 7343 (Mar 2025), 7597 (Jul 2025), 5558 (Dec 2025), 7941 (Mar 2026), 3994 (May 2026), 5203 (Jun 2026). From mid-July 2026 a new team (Anoop, Siobhan) appears in reviews and the tone flips: 7588 and 1924 describe going from no answer to a real fix, and 9966, 9101, 1924, 3483 and 5757 report fast responses again. The product complaints (clunky UI, packaging setup, no bulk tools) have not changed across the whole period.
