Address Validator AddressHero

For German and DACH stores it reliably kills the missing-house-number problem for a few cents per corrected order, but outside German-speaking Europe the evidence is thin and includes three stores saying it wrote wrong addresses over correct ones.

Should you install it?

If you ship inside Germany, Austria or Switzerland and your recurring pain is customers omitting the house number or mistyping the street, this does that one job and reviewers across multiple years back it with numbers - undeliverable parcels from 5-10 a month to under one, support tickets from daily to monthly, one store claiming a 95% cut in misdeliveries over two years. Pricing is per corrected address with a free/Lite tier, so the downside if it underperforms is small. The caution is geographic and recent: three stores in the US and New Zealand between Oct 2025 and May 2026 say it replaced correct addresses with wrong ones, and the developer has never publicly answered a negative review - the only two replies on record are from 2023 to 5-star reviews. If you are outside German-speaking Europe, install on the free tier and manually check what it rewrites before you let it correct automatically. Also be aware the headline rating is inflated: 44% of reviewers had the app under a month, several wrote glowing reviews minutes after install, and two reviews from different stores are identical text.

Fair evidence. High confidence on the German/DACH use case: 202 of 237 reviews are German, and enough of them are long-tenure with specific operational numbers to be credible despite heavy solicitation. Low confidence everywhere else - about six US reviews split two positive against two negative, one NZ review, one Australian, and nothing substantive from the other listed countries, which is not enough to judge accuracy outside DACH either way. Confidence is capped at medium by the integrity problems: 44% under-a-month tenure, roughly a dozen reviews making outcome claims after minutes of use, verbatim-duplicate reviews across different stores, and self-disclosed influencer-driven review clusters.

Right for

  • German and DACH stores where customers routinely omit the house number or mistype the street - by far the most-repeated win in the corpus [4045, 3289, 4419, 4592, 7593]
  • Stores shipping with DHL and Deutsche Post, including Packstation/Postnummer orders, which reviewers say it handles specifically [8986, 5112, 1401, 6419]
  • Small support teams drowning in manual address chase-up; several stores quantify it - daily tickets down to one a month [2556], 5-10 undeliverable parcels a month down to under one [5306]
  • Low-volume stores: pricing is per corrected address, so several reviewers say they only pay when it actually does something [5842, 6693, 9341, 3680]
  • Stores wanting one narrow tool that runs unattended; setup is repeatedly described in minutes, and one high-volume store reports it coexisting with Shopify's native post-purchase upsell [1762, 4940, 8986]

Wrong for

  • US stores - evidence is split and there are only about six US reviews. Two report it rewriting addresses that were already correct or that Shopify then re-flags [0698, 2740]; two report it working fine [6877, 0395]. Too thin to judge either way.
  • New Zealand, Australia and other markets far from DACH - the one NZ review says it substituted wrong addresses [3200]; the single Australian review is positive but brief [4172]
  • Anyone who needs a public, accountable support trail - the developer has not replied publicly to a single negative review, and two mid-2025 reviewers report being ignored privately for days or weeks [0592, 0699]
  • Stores wanting proactive alerting on held orders - one reviewer asks for a notification when an order is put on hold and it does not appear to exist [4592]

What will annoy you

Outside German-speaking Europe it sometimes overwrites a correct address with a wrong one - you keep the bad address and pay for the 'correction'. All hard reports are US or NZ; the only DACH echo is a mild 5-star aside.: 4 reviews, rising, last seen 2026-05.

How the developer behaves when it breaks

Publicly, effectively absent: only two replies exist in 237 reviews, both from April 2023 and both to 5-star reviews, signed Calvin [2117, 1758]. None of the four sub-4-star reviews got a reply [3200, 2740, 0698, 0592], so the wrong-address complaints have never been publicly addressed or rebutted. Privately the picture is the opposite: reviewers repeatedly name individuals and short response times - a next-day call with founders Robin and Moritz [3536], ongoing exchange with Moritz including implemented feature requests [1762], David escalating an edge case to the dev team [6419], Slack support [7134]. The exception is a mid-2025 pocket where private support also went quiet [0592, 0699, 1692]; 2026 reviews describe same- or next-day contact again [3536, 3421].

Red flags

  • You can be billed for a 'correction' that makes the address worse. Two stores state the app changed already-correct addresses; one explicitly frames it as paying for no improvement. Both are outside DACH. 3200 2740
  • Zero public replies to negative reviews in 41 months. The only two developer replies on record are from April 2023 and both answer 5-star reviews; all four sub-4-star reviews sit unanswered. 2117 1758 2740 3200 0592
  • One store reports the app simply not working with no support reachable at all, after about two months on it. 0592

Trend

Review volume collapsed from 186 in the prior 12 months to 32 in the last 12, i.e. the March and June 2025 spikes were campaign-driven and are over. The quality of what remains is higher: recent reviews are longer-tenure and more specific [3536 eight months, 1762 nine months, 4657 five months]. But the negative share moved the wrong way - 1.3% lifetime versus 6.2% in the last 12 months, and all three wrong-address complaints fall in Oct 2025 to May 2026 with nothing comparable before [0698, 2740, 3200]. The mid-2025 support-silence complaints [0699, 0592] have no 2026 successor; the 2026 reviews report same- or next-day founder contact. Net: the German core looks stable and better-evidenced than a year ago, while the accuracy risk in non-DACH markets is newly visible.
